clay-family-vacation-picture-craft.jpg

Craft supplies

Flexible push mold – family (we had 2 adults and 2 children)

Oven bake clay – beige, about 3 oz, depends on the mold (or different colors, if you prefer not to paint)

Black seed beads – 8 for eyes

Acrylic paint (not needed if you used multicolored clay) – colors that you want to paint them with (what color your clothes are?)

1 picture 4×6’ of an ocean shore or any other beautiful landscape you would like to be on

4×6’ picture frame

Glue gun and glue stick

Directions

Press clay completely into mold. If you use a variety of colors, add colors you want into the section of the mold you want colored, starting from the bottom upward toward the edge

Remove from the mold

Add some details such as eyes (seed beads), noses and smiles (scratch with toothpick), earrings for mom or any else

Tips: the mold we used didn’t have mom’s legs… If you have the same one ;) you can just roll ‘sausages’ yourself :)

Bake as instructed

While it’s being baked, insert picture in the frame

When figures are ready, let them cool out

Paint as desired (if you used a variety of colors clay, just skip this step) and let it dry

Hotglue figures over the glass

Now display and enjoy! You can change background pictures as often as you want, so your clay family travels! :)

T-shirt with apple prints

apple print t-shirt

Craft supplies

Plain t-shirt or a-shirt (white is good!)

1 apple and a knife :)

Fabric paint – red, yellow, green (you can choose your own colors, we used these to make ‘apple traffic lights’)

Brush

Cardboard

Clothespins

Directions

Insert cardboard between cloths so back cloth won’t be soaked with paint, too :)

Smooth out front clothe so it’s not wrinkled and pin it to inserted cardboard

Cut apple in half

Paint one half with red

Stamp on the shirt

Wash apple or cut the fine layer off, or just use another half, if you own apple farm :)

Paint another half yellow

Stamp on shirt

Do the same with third print

Let it dry

Put it on and be proud! :)

Important: apple seeds don’t always leave prints. If you want them, you might want to paint them separately and then neatly apply on. Or, you can just draw them with brush :)

Clay & shell magnet – memorize your vacation!

Sunday, February 3rd, 2008

clay-shell-magnet

Craft supplies

Blue air-dry or baking clay

2 flat shell pieces that can form a sailing boat

Chunky glitter glue – moons and stars (it’s not necessary, use what you have or what you consider will fit!)

Round magnet

Permanent marker

Directions

Mold a sphere, then squeeze it between palms to get ‘cookie’ form

Press in shell pieces transversely to each other – make them form a boat

Press in magnet to the wrong side of ‘cookie’

Let the clay dry or bake it in the oven

Cover blue zone with chunky glitter glue

You can also paint the boat with transparent glitter glue to make it shiny

On the wrong side of your magnet write a name of the place of your vacation (where you actually picked those shells?), and a date

Now put your magnet on the fridge and let your heart be warm every time you see it!

Important: do not put glitter glue on before sending your project to the stove! Only after it’s baked and chilled.
