napkin-ring-paper-roll-craft

Craft supplies

As you see, they are all different. One unchangeable component is 1/3 of paper roll. So for 6 count set you’ll need only two toilet paper rolls!

Craft knife or any other sharp knife (adult’s work!)

Then, as you see on the picture above from left to right: 1) ribbon with bamboo leaves, hot glue; 2) blue acrylic paint, brush, gemstones – flowers, butterflies etc.; 3) kitchen foil, gemstones; 4) Semitransparent glimmer ribbon, hot glue; 5) red satin ribbon with chicks, hot glue

One on the red background (good for Christmas): 15 mini craft sticks, golden acrylic paint, brush, hot glue, about 16 glass stones (for zig-zag design)

napkin-ring-paper-roll-craft-sticks-christmas

One on the black background: blue ribbon, hot glue, light-yellow ribbon

napkin-ring-paper-roll-ribbon-craft

One with beans (good for Thanksgiving day): large Lima beans, roman beans, red kidney beans, black beans, pink beans, yellow split peas, hot glue, acrylic sealer (optional)

napkin-ring-paper-roll-beans-thanksgiving-craft

Directions

Cut paper roll into three pieces by width

For ribbon: just wrap it over and under and glue the ends inside ring

For paint: paint it over (inside, too), let dry, hotglue embellishments

For foil: wrap the ring with foil, glue gemstones. Gosh it’s fast! :)

For craft sticks: hotglue all sticks around the ring, paint, let dry, decorate with glass stones (use hot glue)

For beans: just glue them all over the ring in any design you want. Varnish (optional).

Use rings yourself or present somebody. Handmade is always touching and moving!

melted-crayons-craft
Craft supplies

Crayons

Cookie cutters (metallic ones!)

Kitchen foil

Stove

String (optional)

Directions

Remove paper from the crayons

Plane or grate crayons

Wrap cookie cutters with foil so it has secured bottom

Fill the forms with crayon scobs

Put in pre-heated oven

Watch them melt

Take them out, let cool

Remove from the cutters

You can still draw with them! Or gift to somebody! Or use them as ornaments!

Tips: 1) If you want to add some elements such as sequins or gemstones or hangers, do it when it’s almost cool but still soft. If you do earlier your embellishments may sink :)

2) Use bright colors crayons. Dark colors interflow and all look the same “some dark color” at the end.

3) Do not use too high temperature so colors do not mix up but form beautiful wash-out :)

Halloween bag for treats hunt!

halloween-bag-crafthalloween-bag-crafthalloween-bag-craft

This project involves sewing but still has decoration job too so we believe it’s a very exciting and uniting team-work!

Craft supplies

Felt – 2 orange and 3 black sheets (9×12″)

1 black glimmering felt

Black thread, needle (or sewing machine :) )

Scissors

Pair of huge wiggle eyes for pumpkin and pair of not-so-huge wiggle eyes for cat

1 tiny-tiny pink pom pom for cat’s nose

Fabric paint – orange and black

Directions

Set aside two whole felts – black and orange – for main sheets

Cut one black felt by length in three equal stripes (ours are 3×12″) – for sides and bottom

Cut 2 stripes 1.5×11″out of black felt and 2 out of orange felt (those are for hangers)

Cut 2 orange and 2 black 1.5×2″ pieces (to strengthen hangers, candies are heavy! :) )

Using our templates cut out a CAT (glimmering felt) and PUMPKIN (orange felt)

Now starts sewing work :) We recommend decorate sheets first. Sew a cat on the orange felt and pumpkin on the black felt (don’t forget to stitch the veins)

Hotglue eyes to both personages and nose to cat

Sew two of three stripes to sheets as side parts of your bag (to ’3D’ it, you expect moooore candy, right? :) )

Sew the bottom to sheets and sides using third part of three stripes, cut unnecessary length out (would be 3×3″)

Let’s make hangers: sew black and orange stripes together, there must be 2 hangers out of 2 stripes

Sew the hangers so as felt is between hanger’s end and strengthening pieces. If you sew rectangles by perimeter and then X-es inside, that’d feel firm :)

Now draw pumpkin’s nose and mouth with black fabric paint, add some specific words etc.

Tips: 1) Use glowing in the dark fabric markers to impart your bag more frightening effect (especially if you draw skulls and bones and other scary stuff Halloween dispose to :) )

2) You can make your bag flat to avoid oversewing :)

Note: Description sounds more difficult than project presents itself :)

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

humpty-dumpty-wooden-egg-craft

Craft supplies (for 1, chairs not included :) )

Wooden pellet egg

3′ straw hat from the craft store

Feather – optional

2 googly eyes

Markers – black and red

Awl or craft drill

Pipe cleaner

Scissors

4 pony beads

Acrylic paint, brush

Loaded glue gun

Directions

Paint the egg and hat with acrylic paint (choose colors!), let it dry

Make hands and legs: cut pipe cleaner in fourth, thread pony beads on the ends, curve

Hotglue feather to the hat

(Adult’s work) Make 4 holes in the egg body for hands and for legs

Insert extremities into holes (better works with hot glue), curve them as desired

Hotglue hat, eyes

Draw nose, smile, cheeks, freckles – any!

Now your Humpty Dumpty is ready and you don’t need “all the King’s horses and all the King’s men” to put him together, because he is unbreakable! :) (Please do not attend this craft with real pellet egg! :) )
